Ross Ulbricht found guilty in Silk Road trial
A jury has found Ross Ulbricht guilty on all counts of being "Dread Pirate Roberts," the pseudonym used by the mastermind behind the Silk Road underground drug marketplace.
The jury began deliberation on Wednesday, and it took fewer than four hours to find Ulbricht, 30, guilty of being the kingpin behind Silk Road. Before its shutdown by the federal government in 2013, Silk Road was considered the globe's largest marketplace for finding illegal drugs online.
The jury's verdict finds Ulbricht guilty on all seven counts. Ulbricht faced charges related to drug trafficking, money laundering and more and could be sentenced to life in prison. Ulbricht faces a minimum of 20 years in prison. He will be sentenced in May. Read more...
